The Wings of Fire Book is an autobiography of former Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, which was published in 1999. Dr. Kalam wrote it to explore his early life, endeavors, struggles, tenacity, good fortune, and chance that ultimately led him to oversee Indian space research, nuclear development, and missile projects.

After earning his degree in aerospace engineering from MIT (Chennai), India, Dr. Kalam began his career with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, where he was tasked with creating a prototype hovercraft. Later, he joined ISRO where he contributed to the creation of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and started the first space launch vehicle program.
